Hayer calls to remove Air India bombings mastermind’s picture at Gurudwara

On the 30th anniversary of the Air India bombings a former politician is outraged over a picture of the so-called mastermind still hanging at a Surrey temple.
Talwinder Singh Parmar is being portrayed as a martyr at the Dasmesh Darbar Gurdwara on 128th and 85th Avenue. This is despite the fact that it was agreed upon at the trial that Parmar was the mastermind behind the event.
Former BC Liberal MLA Dave Hayer has expressed anguish and said that there’s no place for the photo and it should be taken down. “It is insulting to our Canadian way of life and to all the victims and victims’ families to show any type of murderer or terrorist as heroes. I think there’s no place in Canada to have this,” a leading daily from Vancouver quoted Hayer as saying.
Hayer has been pushing for this for quite sometime and he says all three levels of government have a responsibility to protect victims. He’d like to see the picture taken down.“I have made my comments known publicly for a long time,” he says. “I have spoken many times in Victoria at the Parliament saying we need to have the rights of victims recognized.”The attacks on June 23rd 1985 left 331 people dead.
