E250 TICKET CAUSES UPROAR
MBABANE – The E250 cost of general tickets to watch the historical King’s Super Cup has sparked a public uproar.
This topic was the talk of the town yesterday, especially on popular social networking site Facebook where many people shared their thoughts on the price of the general tickets.
A web poll conducted on the Times of Swaziland Facebook page confirmed that many people feel that the ticket price was too much for the one-day tournament to feature South African giants Kaizer Chiefs and Orlando Pirates, on July 18 at Somhlolo National Stadium.
While a few were for the idea, saying it was reasonable, a majority said it was not within their means to purchase the tickets.
They said the cost of the ticket was not considerate of the fact that a large number of soccer followers were in the low and medium income bracket.
Therefore, some suggested that the price should be reduced in order for soccer lovers to fill the stadium.
Among those who felt that this was a price reasonable enough, some said it would help curb crime by making it hard for thugs to gain entry and commit crimes.
Others said the stadium’s capacity necessitated the high charge.
The price was announced on Wednesday night during the official launch and draw at Royal Swazi Spa Convention Centre, and it was further disclosed that the VIP tickets would cost E500.
The organising committee announced that there would be provision for supporters to watch the games at fan parks that will be well equipped with modern technology at a lesser E50 fee.
