: Two hardcore armed Maoist cadres surrendered in Malkangiri district of Odisha on Thursday.

They were identified as Adama Kawasi (21) and Rama Madkami (20) from Kalimela police station limits. They were active in the cut off area of Balimela reservoir, a major naxal-prone remote region of Odisha.

Both were active members of Malkangiri Koraput Border Division (MKBD). “Kawasi was the personal bodyguard of Uday, secretary of MKBD of Maoists,” said Inspector General of Police (IGP), south west range of Odisha, Yashwant Jethwa.

According to Mr Jethwa, both figured in the most-wanted list of police for their involvement in several cases of Maoist violence.
