Senator Jacqui Lambie leads Tasmanian politicians' spending, with $350k office upgrade
Jacqui Lambie has topped the list of Tasmanian federal politicians who spent money on travel, office upgrades, and phone and internet bills in a recent six-month period.
The independent Senator spent $350,000 on her Burnie office, while her state colleagues collectively spent more than $2.5 million in the last six months of 2014, federal Finance Department figures reveal.
Senator Lambie also had the highest telecommunications bill at $5,000.
Retiring Greens senator Christine Milne spent $141,000 on her office facilities.
Liberal Senator David Bushby had the highest international travel bill at $23,000, while fellow Liberal Senator Richard Colbeck spent $62,000 on domestic fares.
Senators Colbeck and Bushby also featured in the top three spenders on their families, a list which was topped by fellow Liberal Senator Stephen Parry, who used $15,000 on his family.
Family costs included expenditure on domestic travel, taxis and other car costs.
The documents also showed office administrative costs and money spent on family members.
