Decor
This Mughal-e-Azam has more colours than your smartphone’s resolution. An old-world royal look and a crossover of an emperor’s durbar with a restaurant setup, it comes complete with ornamental turbans to pose with for your selfies. Glass pendant trellises, satin tents and multi-coloured chandeliers vie for attention, and for a moment, you speculate about time travel.
We have seen this type of décor in a well-known Delhi restaurant and liked it, but the garishness may seem a little over the top to some.
Food
They have a buffet every day for lunch and dinner, and offer an à la carte menu as well. Like most restaurants catering to the IT sector, there is a value-for-money range consisting of one vegetarian and non-vegetarian soup, freshly-made starters, salads, mains and desserts. Some of us opted for the buffet, and liked the Paneer Tikka, Fish Fry and Chicken Wings. The rest of the starters were not upto our expectations. The Gosht Rogan Josh served with hot and fresh bread basket was satisfactory, though. On the manager’s recommendation, we also ordered Murg Ka Soola and Gosht Nalli Ka Salan from their à la carte menu. The Murg Ka Soola was undercooked and too hard to even cut with a knife, which was acknowledged by the management, and it wasn’t too bad after further cooking in the tandoor, though we weren’t billed for it. The Gosht Nalli Ka Salan was well-made, but it thoroughly challenged our salt tolerance. The desserts were average, though a dry Lauki Ka Halwa saved the day. Overall, we felt several dishes had extra salt, but we’ve had pleasant experiences here before, so maybe it was a bad day for the kitchen.

Service
Our servers were either new or not trained well enough. The food wasn’t being served with grace and was, instead, being dropped on our plates from a substantial height. This was canteen service at its best. Also, they weren’t aware of many menu listings. Some professional training would do a lot of good.
Plus and minus
The buffet is priced very competitively at `399, plus taxes. There is ample seating capacity, so you won’t have to wait. The décor is unique as well, but take the food with a pinch of salt (or is it the other way round).
