Ramapo hires Crocker as new AD

MAHWAH, N.J. --  Ramapo College's Vice President for Enrollment Management and Student Affairs, Chris Romano, announced today the hiring of Harold Crocker as Director of Athletics, Intramurals and Recreation beginning July 1. He is the 11th athletics director in school history.

"This is a wonderful opportunity and I am looking forward to help carry on the proud tradition of Roadrunner Athletics," Crocker said.  "I am excited to meet and work with the talented coaches, staff and student-athletes and I am ready to accept the next challenge in my career."

Crocker held the same position at The College of New Rochelle since 1998 where he oversaw six NCAA Division III programs.  He managed and supervised the daily operations of the athletic department and the $28 million dollar state of the art athletic facility which opened during his tenure.

The College of New Rochelle's athletic programs saw much success under Crocker's direction and the Ramapo College community looks forward to his knowledge and expertise at the helm of the Roadrunner staff and competitive and intramural athletic teams.

"We are very excited to welcome Harold Crocker to the College," Romano said.  "I am certain that his knowledge, skills and abilities will provide strong, visionary and student-centered leadership to Athletics, Intramurals and Recreation and all of our student-athletes."

Prior to his time at The College of New Rochelle, Crocker was a highly successful football coach where in 1980 he led New Rochelle High School to the New York State Championship with a perfect 10-0 season.  He made a move to Iona College shortly thereafter and quickly made a mark in Iona's history leading the Gaels to the 1993 Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference Title.

That year he was named MAAC and Eastern Collegiate Athletic Conference Coach of the Year for the second time after first receiving the award following the 1989 season with the Liberty Conference.  Crocker moved on from Iona into the NFL where he spent time as a regional scout for the New York Giants.

He is a 1974 graduate of Central Connecticut State University with a bachelors degree in physical education.  He served as the captain of the 1973 Blue Devils in which the team finished the season at 9-1.  In 1978 Crocker earned a masters degree in special education from The College of New Rochelle and soon after earned his Professional Diploma in School Administration and Supervision from Iona College in 1993. He also holds New York State certifications in physical education, special education, and school district administration.

Crocker has served as the vice president of the Hudson Valley Women's Athletic Conference and in 1994 was inducted into the City of New Rochelle's Athletic Hall of Fame.

He currently resides in South Salem, NY with his wife Diane, and two children, Jill and Sean.
