ISLAMABAD:
Submitting written arguments before the inquiry commission, MQM has denied the allegations of election rigging, levelled by Muhajir Quami Movement (Haqiqi) and Jamat-e-Islami.
PTI’s task force chairman Ishaq Khan Khakwani said that PTI will submit written arguments on Thursday.
“All adverse allegations levelled by JI and Haqiqi in the proceedings before the Judicial Commission are denied. They constitute nothing but sour grapes” states the written statement submitted by MQM counsel Farogh Naseem.
The statement says both Haqiqi and JI have not been able to present any evidence or material of any credence even before the Judicial Commission. The statement further says that this shows that MQM had won the elections not by way of any systematic effort or design of rigging, adding that mere false and sweeping allegations are not enough.
The statement says that before the advent of MQM in 1986-87, religious parties including JI had a vote bank in Urban Sindh. However after the advent of MQM, all parties including JI, were completely wiped out from urban Sindh by MQM.
PML-N version
Submitting its 70-page reply in the inquiry commission, PML-N has rejected all the allegations of elections rigging.
A member of the legal team has revealed to The Express Tribune that PML-N has submitted its reply in the inquiry commission, wherein it is stated that the PTI failed to prove its allegation of rigging during the proceedings.
