A 45-year-old widow from Sivarakottai in Thirumangalam taluk near here has moved the Madras High Court Bench here seeking a direction to the District Crime Branch police to register a case against former Union Minister M.K. Alagiri’s wife Kanthi Alagiri for having allegedly usurped 25 cents of land through forged documents.
The petitioner, R. Rajeswari, claimed that she settled at Palani in Dindigul district immediately after her marriage in 1990 and returned to Sivarakottai in 2003.
Her husband Ramamoorthy died on January 17, 2014. Subsequently, she applied for encumbrance certificate and was shocked to find that the land was registered in the name of Dhaya Cyber Park represented by Ms. Kanthi Alagiri. Contending that her husband’s name had been mentioned as a minor in the sale deed, the petitioner said that inquiries made with her mother-in-law and brother-in-law revealed that the property was usurped through forged documents since her husband did not agree to sell it.
Claiming to have lodged a complaint on February 3, she sought a direction to the police to register a First Information Report. The matter is expected to come up for hearing before Justice M.M. Sundresh on Thursday.
