SI killed as lorry hits motorcycle

Sub-Inspector R. Ananda Kumar (34) of Coringa police station was killed in a road accident in the small hours of Wednesday. Ananda Kumar was on his way to Kakinada from Samalkot on his motorcycle around 12.30 a.m. when a gravel laden truck moving in the same direction hit the motorcycle from behind near Koppavaram Centre on the ADB Road killing him on the spot. Men from the police patrolling vehicle spotted Ananda Kumar in a pool of blood and rushed him to the Government General Hospital, where the doctors declared him brought dead. Home Minister N. China Rajappa, Superintendent of Police M. Ravi Prakash visited the GGH and consoled the family members of Ananda Kumar.

The police took out a rally in a bid to offer their condolences to the family members of the bereaved.

It is learnt that the police took the truck driver into custody and were questioning him. A case has been registered and investigation is on.
