Mere theoretical training will not suffice for judicial officers and practical training needs to be given a push, Chief Justice of India, Justice H L Dattu said.

Justice Dattu was addressing the gathering here on Wednesday at the foundation stone laying ceremony of the new building of the Karnataka Judicial Academy. He stressed on the importance of ethics for judicial officers.

At the previous Chief Justices’ conference, it was decided that practical training apart from ethical classes would be conducted for the officers. Justice Dattu urged for the implementation of these resolutions. “All the Chief Justices agreed that we need to have more training for judicial officers. At the end of each class, there must be a class of ethics, which is absolutely necessary for the present day judicial officers," he said.
