Differences between khaps and the Akhil Bharatiya Jat Aarakshan Sangharsh Samiti (ABJRSS) surfaced today as the khaps did not attend the meeting of the samiti in Narwana for Jat reservation.

The khaps will organise their state-level meeting in Adampur of Hisar on June 27 to start their Jan Jagran Abhiyan for reservation.

“We can organise meetings differently, but will fight for reservation jointly. During the meeting, we discussed our future course of action to intensify our agitation,” said Hawa Singh Sangwan, president of the ABJRSS. He presided over the meeting today in Narwana.

Earlier, the khaps and the samiti had announced to organise meetings and fight jointly for the reservation.

On March 22, a mahapanchayat was organised in Jind during which leaders of the Akhil Bhartiya Jat Mahsabha (ABJM), Akhil Bhartiya Jat Reservation Sangharsh Samiti (ABJRSS), Sarv Jat Khap Panchayat (SJKP), Sarv Khap Panchayat (SKP) and many senior Jat leaders of various khaps brainstormed for almost three hours and announced to fight for reservation.

Prominent leaders from the SKJP of Haryana, which was formed to fight for Jat reservation, and other khap leaders said they did not attend the meeting as they would organise their meeting.

“We did not attend the meeting, nor did we have any connection with it. We will start our own abhiyan from June 27 from Adampur,” said Sube Singh Sumain, spokesman of the SJKP.

On May 11, all khaps of the country and the Jat Samitis had protested at Jantar Mantar for reservation. The khaps have already announced to block all roads of New Delhi on September 11 if the Centre denies reservation to them.

“We did not attend the meeting as we had no information about it. Though the Supreme Court has scrapped reservation for the Jats, we are hopeful that the review petition of the Centre will do justice to us,” said Tek Ram Kandela, national convener of the Sarv Khap Panchayat.
