Vamps

When it comes to vamps, no other television industry can quite match up to ours. Our production houses have created some of the most iconic vamps. They are written in a manner that makes the leading lady look like a victim who's aim is to deal with the awful tactics of the vamp. Sooner or later, the protagonist is able to win against all odds created by this character and it’s only then that she's achieved it all. Basically, in our daily soaps, every Tulsi needs a Mandira!

So take a look at TVs most hated!

1. Komalika, Kasauti Zindagi Kay

Urvashi Dholakia

Startv.in

From designer blouses to twisting her flick, Urvashi Dholakia did complete justice to this character. In the serial, she was after Anurag, money and the Basu empire. To achieve all of this, she got married to multiple men of the Basu family. Despite several leaps, Kamolika never  gave up, and fought with Prerna till the end. In fact, Dholakia was the winner of Bigg Boss but that didn't change her identity for India. Even today, she is known as 'Komolikaaa...nikka'.

2. Ramola Sikand, Kahin Kisi Roz

Ramola Sikand

Startv.in

She was the 'step-mother’ on Indian television. And Sudha Chandran played this character like a boss. Calling Ramola a negative character will be an understatement because she was a mother-in-law disguised as a criminal. She wanted to murder the protagonist till the very end and she kept at it until she was defeated. Ramola was one of the most stylish vamps on TV. People still recall her beautiful sarees and unique bindis.

3. Jigyasa Walia, Kasamh Se

Jigyasa

Zee network

The vamp with an oversized bindi - that’s how we remember Jigyasa. This character was played by Ashwini Kaleskar who played the wicked sister after Bani’s life. Kaleskar was so good in those shoes that people couldn’t help but abhor her.

4. Mandira, Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi

Mandira Bedi

Startv.in

KSBKBT was the longest running show on Indian television. And while people idolised Tulsi, they hated Mandira. And why wouldn’t they? She was the worst of the worse, she was the husband snatcher. This character was originally played by Mandira Bedi who was tagged the most hated woman of the daily soap era.

5. Dr. Simran, Sanjeevani

Rupali Ganguly

Startv.in

Every time Rupali Ganguly popped up on screen, we couldn’t help but wonder how psychotic she was. Dr. Simran was this over-possessive wife who had nothing in her life apart from plotting and planning destroying Juhi’s (husband’s ex girlfriend) life.

6. Tapasaya, Uttaran

Tapasya

Colors tv

Tapasya’s character was written on the catch phrase ‘looks can be deceiving.’ This role was Reshmi Desai’s rise to fame. Tapasya never got tired of plotting. She had the stamina to ruin EVERYONE’s life. Hats off to the people who wrote such a scheming character. This ‘poor little rich girl’ went on to become a rage on Indian TV.

7. Anu, Des Mein Nikla Hoga Chand

Shweta Keswani

Startv.in

Anu was this beautiful girl, who plotted against the leading lady because she was madly in love with the hero. This character was played by Shweta Keswani and she was great at highlighting the insecurities of Anu's personality.

8. Ammaji, Na Aana Is Des Laado

Amma Ji

Colors tv

Ammaji, played by Meghna Malik, made us all wonder how anyone could be so cruel. She was narrow-minded, patriarchal, insensitive and absolute devil. Ammaji remains in our memory as someone who was against women, despite being one herself.

9. Payal, Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi

Payal

Startv.in

Payal, played by Jaya Bhattacharya, was yet another mean character in Tulsi’s life. In the serial, Payal was supposed to get married to Mihir. But Mihir refuses to marry her after figuring out that she’s a gold digger.

10. Nitya Nanda, Kkavyaanjali

Amrita Singh

Startv.in

This memorable character was played by Amrita Singh. She was the evil mother to a son who was too good to be true. Amrita Singh was resented by the Indian audience for playing a mother who was almost a devil.

11. Kalyani Devi, Balika Vadhu

Dadisa

Colors tv

Nobody could have played this role better than Surekha Sikri. Another old school woman stuck with traditional norms, Dadisa troubled Anandi throughout her childhood. However, the good news is that this character went under a transformation. Currently, Dadisa is the cutest character ever! Miracles do happen on Indian television.
