Pagasa monitoring possible LPA east of Mindanao
THE state weather bureau is tracking a possible low-pressure area east of Mindanao.
Gener Quitlong, weather forecaster of the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration, said a cloud formation is being monitored over the Pacific Ocean that is likely to develop into a low pressure over the weekend.
“It is likely to become a low pressure area but we still couldn’t say if it would develop into a cyclone,” he said by phone.
On Wednesday, Pagasa declared the start of the rainy season but said it is likely to last for only three months due to El Nino.
An intertropical convergence zone is prevailing in Mindanao, Pagasa said in its weather bulletin.
Cloudy skies with light to moderate rains and thunderstorms will be experienced over Mindanao, Visayas and Palawan on Thursday.
Partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated thunderstorms will prevail over Metro Manila and the rest of the country.
