VADODARA: The unexplained delay in about 38 persons in and around Ghansarvav village in Halol taluka of Panchmahal district getting their Aadhar cards got explained with the cards being found strewn in a field. A postman was suspended on Tuesday following the discovery on Wednesday.
The cards were found by commuters on Monday and their bad condition due to the effect of elements.
Most of the cards were not in a usable condition any more. The villagers informed the district administration as well as the post department about the cards.
Halol sub-division post office inspector K N Patel said that the cards were to be distributed by postman P B Parmar from the Ghansar Muvadi post office. "The cards are sent by ordinary post and hence there is no record as to when were they handed over to him," said Patel.
Sources said that off late, no major enrolments were done for Aadhar in the recent past. It is believed that the cards were made about a year back. Patel said that why Parmar failed to distribute these would come to light only after an investigation. "Besides our probe in the matter, the administration or the police may also probe the case," said Patel.
Patel added that Parmar had refused to give a statement on the issue. "With him denying to do so, we do not have an explanation to the incident yet," said Patel.
