PESHAWAR: A soldier on patrol party was killed in an explosion on a road in Mirali town of North Waziristan on Tuesday. Six soldiers were injured.

Sources said that security forces were patrolling the area when an improvised explosive device (IED) blew up near their vehicle in Madikhel.

The injured soldiers were taken to the Combined Military Hospital.

The IEDs are considered a lethal weapon being used by terrorists against security forces in the troubled Federally Administered Tribal Areas. Security forces claimed to have destroyed dozens of units manufacturing IEDs in North Waziristan during the Zarb-i-Azb Operation.
