Gusty wind uprooted many trees in different parts of the district on Saturday.

A neem tree near Lalgudi on Anbil-Lalgudi Road, which was about 30 years old, was uprooted because of the impact of strong wind, affecting the flow of traffic for sometime.

On information, officials rushed to the spot and cleared the branches of the tree on the road with the support of local people. A car was damaged near the Head Post Office when a roadside tree fell on it. The people had a tough time in clearing the timber to retrieve the vehicle. However, no one was injured in it.

There were reports that trees had fallen on roads in different parts of the district. The power supply was hit in different parts.

Power supply was snapped in many places to avoid untoward incidents. A couple of trees were uprooted at Golden Rock in the city.
