Undertrial’s death: activist allowed to check documents

The Gulbarga Central Prison authorities have allowed Right to Information (RTI) activist Shaik Shafi Ahmed to inspect documents related to the death of undertrial Tanveer Moulana Patel in the jail on May 19. He was in judicial custody.

Chief Superintendent of the prison M. Sunder has fixed June 24 for Mr. Ahmed to inspect the documents.

Mr. Ahmed had sought to inspect the documents pertaining to the cell where the undertrial was lodged, the details of the jail personnel who were present near his body, details of wound marks on the body, among other things.
