CBSE to conduct AIPMT on July 25

The Central Board of Secondary Education today said it would re-conduct the All India Pre-Medical and Pre Dental Test on July 25.

In a written statement, the CBSE clarified that no fresh applications would have to be submitted to take the test again and all old admit cards would be valid. No additional fee would have to be paid either.

The Supreme Court had recently asked the CBSE to re-conduct the AIPMT after the answer keys of the previously held test were leaked. On June 15, the court had cancelled the test that was held on May 3. As many as 6.3 lakh students had taken the exam for around 3,000 MBBS seats in the central pool of AIPMT in all state government medical colleges. Some institutions such as AFMC-Pune and Delhi University had this year said they would admit students to medical and dental streams based on the AIPMT ranks.

The process of admissions stands delayed due to the retest. The results of the AIPMT, as ordered by the apex court, have to be declared by August 17 to ensure MBBS sessions are not delayed any further. Normally, it takes three months post the declaration of results to wind up MBBS admission processes after conducting three rounds of counselling.

The CBSE today said: “In compliance with the orders of the Supreme Court dated June 15 and June 19, the CBSE has decided to re-conduct the AIPMT-2015 on July 25 (Saturday).” 

The Board said only those candidates who had applied within the stipulated time from December 1, 2014, to January 31, 2015, with requisite fee would be eligible to sit for the test.

It said details and updates on the test would be hosted on the AIPMT website www.aipmt.nic.in. “Candidates are advised to be in touch with the AIPMT website. All eligible candidates are requested to ensure functioning of their email ids and mobile numbers given while submitting their application to receive the updates issued by the CBSE from time to time,” the Board said.

The website would also put up details on how students, who may have lost their admit cards, can secure them again.
