Arya turns dusky to play a village belle

Arya turns dusky to play a village belle
Arya, familiar to viewers as Ramesh Pisharody’s wife in the TV show Badai Bungalow, is seeking greener pastures. The two-film old actress, who made her tinsel town debut with Oru Second Class Yathra, is all set to act in the upcoming Vineeth Sreenivasan-starrer Kunjiramayanam. Interestingly, the audience will get to see a ‘de-glam’ version of Arya, who is famed for her stylish avatars.
“I play Mallika, a simple village girl who wears Dhawanis and sports oiled hair. My skin tone too will be duskier. I have never taken on such a look, and the character is in complete contrast to what I have done so far. But I believe that one becomes an actor when they do something diametrically opposite to their real life persona, and that’s what I am doing in Kunjiramayanam,” says Arya, adding that she is head over heels in love with her character.
“Though Mallika has only a few scenes, she is crucial to the movie and its climax. And working with the team was quite awesome; there has not been one dull moment in the shooting location.”Quiz her on how she landed the project, and Arya says. “All thanks to Badai Bungalow, which gave me a lot of exposure. It was Vineeth Sreenivasan who suggested me to Basil Joseph, the director of the movie. Arya is getting more offers from the small screen but is currently not committing to any other serial projects as she wants to focus on movies too. “But quitting Badai Bungalow for movies is out of question,” she affirms.
Off the screen, Arya is a no- nonsense girl who juggles multiple roles of an actress, model, dancer and also mother to a three and a half year old! “My family has been really supportive of my career and I am thankful for it. I want to be with my daughter all the time but I am not able to. But even she knows my situation and she doesn’t create trouble for me. That helps me keep my passion alive,” she signs off.
