Hyderabad Metro Rail acquires major properties

Only 132 properties are left to be acquired

Hyderabad: Properties at Ameerpet junction to Road No. 36, Banjara Hills, and also those near Secunderabad station and Narayanguda, have been acquired for the Metro Rail in the city.

There are important properties like the housing colony near Iskon temple in Secunderabad and the Country Club of India which still remain a contentious issue and sources state that it will take time to resolve.

In a meeting of officials at the Secretariat on Tuesday, HMR managing director N.V.S. Reddy said, “Only 132 properties are left to be acquired. The number was earlier 446, but most of them have now been acquired and work is underway.”

The clearance on the Ameerpet to Banjara Hills stretch is being looked upon as an achievement as it will help to complete the gaps in the project on that stretch.

A senior officer said, “We can’t have gaps in a linear project like this. The clearance will now ensure that the works on one-corridor are completed.” With the deadline pressures for completing the project setting in L&T is insisting on utilisation of its complete resources to ensure that the work is completed soon.
