Pamela Newkirk talked about her book, Spectacle: The Astonishing Life of Ota Benga, about the life of Ota Benga, a Congolese dwarf who was featured in an anthropology exhibit during the 1904 St. Louis World’s Fair. Two years later, the 103-pound, 4'11" Benga was displayed in the Bronx Zoo Monkey House with an orangutan. close
