The agent of Jackson Martinez, Luiz Henrique Pompeu, has given Arsenal renewed hope of securing the services of the Porto striker after insisting the Colombia international is yet to decide his next destination, while denying agreements with either Atletico Madrid or AC Milan.

The striker has emerged as one of the hottest prospects of the summer after Porto admitted their intention to sell him should any club meet his €35m (£24.8m, $39.1m) release clause.

Earlier in June, The Mirror claimed Arsenal were preparing to match Porto's demands if the north London club managed to fund the move with the sales of Lukas Podolski, Yaya Sanogo and Joel Campbell.

Gunners manager Arsene Wenger is looking for a world-class striker and he did not hide his admiration for the player earlier this season.

"He has top physical strengths. Hugely efficient, he is the kind of player who can make room for himself in the box," Wenger said in February.

"He could play in the Premier League because he has the body to make the difference. He uses it in a very intelligent way. He has a very short back lift and he's a very good finisher. He's on the list of many clubs, you know that."

But Arsenal's hopes to sign the player received a huge blow just days later when Porto president Pinto da Costa was quoted by The Mirror claiming the Colombia international has chosen to join AC Milan instead.

However, the agreement with the Italian did not go through and recent reports in Spain from both AS and Marca claimed the striker will instead move to Atletico Madrid after Diego Simeone's side agreed to meet his full release clause to replace Mario Mandzukic – who has joined Juventus.

But Martinez's agent has denied all those reports and suggested the player transfer saga will continue as the striker is as close to a move to Milan or Atletico as he is to the Premier League.

"We do not know where Jackson Martinez will go. Everyone writes but nobody knows anything. Hopefully in a few days we will make a final decision. I do not know what Milan or the Spanish clubs will do. We hope to make a decision and we will do it soon," Pompeu he said to TodoMercadoWeb.

"He is not an Atletico player and with Milan there is not anything close either. Jackson can do great things in Spain, Italy or in England. There are many possibilities and we will not know where he will go until a few more days. Tomorrow, after tomorrow or during the weekend something will probably happen."
