A group of five accused being tried for their alleged role in the Mumbai’s 1993 serial bombing on Tuesday allegedly manhandled a police officer at the main gate of the Arthur Road jail when the officer.

MUMBAI: A group of five accused being tried for their alleged role in the Mumbai’s 1993 serial bombing on Tuesday allegedly manhandled a police officer at the main gate of the Arthur Road jail when the officer. An FIR registered with the N M Joshi Marg police stated that the five accused got furious soon after the officer Anup Dange tried to frisk them.

The incident took place at around 11 am at the Arthur Road jail when the five accused Mustaffa Dossa, Tahir Merchant, Feroz Rasheed Khan, Qayyum Shaikh and one more were brought outside the jail to take them to the Sessions court in connection with an Arms case hearing against them. “When I tried frisking them, Khan got furious and abused me. Later, they all manhandled me and tried to beat me up. My other colleagues intervened and the situation was brought under control. I have filed a complaint against all of them,” Dange said.
The complaint is registered for manhandling an officer and creating obstacle in discharging his official duty.
