The afternoon kicked off with league tag in a close-fought match between two high flying teams.
Condobolin were top of the table coming into the match, having not yet lost a game, but if the Jersey Girls were nervous it didn’t show.
Despite not being able to capitalise on their traction, the girls dominated possession and went into half-time looking comfortable with a 10-0 lead.
The second half opened things up a bit for both teams and Condo had the better showing, but the Jerseys held on to their lead to emerge 20-14 winners.
Kaylah Smith, Jess Howard and Lucy Hammond impressed whilst Bron Pollack and Ali Giles starred again.
From here the stage was set for the Brahmans, but throughout the first half they fluffed their lines.
The Rams have endured a hit-and-miss season but they were happy to take advantage of a lot of unforced errors and missed tackles.
Their mercurial halves made the most of the damp conditions with a tormenting kick and chase game.
A poor showing saw the Brahmans down a record 20-4 at half time, only try to the returning Daniel Poidevin in the 20th minute.
The second half can only be described as one of the most dramatic 40 minutes of football witnessed at Binalong in years.
Condo opened the scoring in the fourth minute to go 26-4 up, leaving some wondering whether they should call it a day.
Never one to give up though, captain Chris Rawlinson inspired the Brahmans to a massive fight back.
With the crowd well and truly involved, frustration crept into Condo and they were penalised 14-8.
With their fullback sent for 10 in the 13th minute of the second half Condobolin seriously started to wane- they arrived with no bench and were down to 11 players with injury.
The conditions were right for Binalong to run away with the game and they did just that, scoring 32 unanswered points to emerge dramatic 36-26 winners.
Truly a game where the score line does not tell the whole story.
Tries: H.Paton (2), C.Rawlinson (2), D.Poidevin, R.Olah, B.Potts. Goals: C.Rawlinson (4).
Binalong remain in second spot on the ladder behind Peak Hill Roosters.
This week they hit the road to take on fourth placed Trundle Boomers, running hot on the back of their 46-0 defeat of Burrangong and keen to make amends for round one.
