VADODARA: An employee of Gujarat Industrial Development Corporation (GIDC) was on Monday sentenced to two years in jail for accepting a bribe of Rs 4,000. Ajitsinh Lakod had accepted the bribe from Narendra Raval in June 5, 2012.
According to Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB), Lakod had accepted the bribe to give a no-objection certificate to the complainant.
Satyan Rajgaur, an entrepreneur, had applied for a loan from the State Bank of India by mortgaging two of his shops located in GIDC Makarpura.
The loan required a no-objection certificate from the GIDC authorities.
It was when Raval, an employee of Rajgaur, approached Lakod at Sayajigunj office of the GIDC to acquire the certificate on June 4, 2012 that a bribe of Rs 4,000 was demanded.
The case was heard by additional sessions judge N P Chaudhary, who announced a two year jail and a fine of Rs 8,000 to the accused.
