16 injured in firing over land dispute

Sixteen people, including two women, were injured when two groups clashed over property dispute and opened fire at each other in Civil Lines area on Monday. The firing continued for over 30 minutes, creating panic in the area.

BAHRAICH: Sixteen people, including two women, were injured when two groups clashed over property dispute and opened fire at each other in Civil Lines area on Monday. The firing continued for over 30 minutes, creating panic in the area.
The situation was brought under control after the police reached the locality and apprehended 23 persons. Named FIR against several persons has been registered in this connection.
The injured have been admitted in the district hospital while two of them have been referred to the Trauma Centre in Lucknow.
Reports said there is a piece of land near PWD Inspection House in civil Lines area of Bahraich city. One Foolmati Devi and Bachcha Pandey, residents of Khatripura area, claim ownership over the land. Bachcha Pandey claims that is land is registered in his favor.
On monday morning, the two parties came face to face and a a clash ensued. Meanwhile, a few persons in the crowd started firing and destroyed the house of Bachcha Pandey. According to the eyewitnesses, 15 rounds were fired in the clash till the City Kotwal, Dehat Kotwal and Dargah police reached the spot.
Circle officer (CO) Anoop Kumar Pandey said, “Twenty-three people have been arrested and the injured have been admitted to the district hospital. Two of the injured, Ravi Pandey and Prem Kumar, have been referred to Trauma Centre in Lucknow as their condition was serious.”
