The Dindigul police produced Kannan alias Senthil, one of the Maoists nabbed in Coimbatore, before the Dindigul Judicial Magistrate Court II on Monday to be taken into its custody for interrogation.

Plice said that he was one of the accused who escaped from a police encounter with Maoists on upper Kodaikanal hill in 2004. Maoist Navin Prasad was killed in that encounter.

Meanwhile, the police arrested four Maoists, including Kannan at Karuthampatti in Coimbatore district recently. They were lodged in Coimbatore prison.

The Dindigul police got information that Kannan had stayed with Navin Prasad in Kodaikanal before the encounter. It sought permission to interrogate him.
