Ajit Club smashes Guru Nanak Club, becomes first team to enter semis

JAMMU, June 22: Ajit Hockey Club, Gole Gujral smashed Guru Nanak Nagar Hockey Club and became the first team to enter the semis of the ongoing Ist Mahant Bachitter Singh Gold Cup Hockey Tournament, being organized by Mahant Bachittar Singh Hockey Club, Makhanpur Simbal under the aegis of Hockey J&K at Government High School, Simbal Camp here today.
Meanwhile, Singh Hockey Club, Bandhu Rakh outplayed Diamond Hockey Club and advanced into next round of the tourney.
The players of both the teams–Singh Hockey Club, Bandhu Rakh and Diamond Hockey Club, Simbal Camp entered the ground with passion and enthusiasm and started playing game with true sportsmanship.
As the game started, Tanishpreet Singh from Singh Hockey Club netted the goal in the 4th minute of the first half and raised the scoreboard to 1-0 goal.
The players of Diamond Hockey Club were finding way to equalize the game, but the enthusiastic Tanishpreet Singh from Singh Club bounced back and scored the second goal of the match in the 9th minute.
As the players of Diamond Hockey Club were already reeling under 2-0 goals pressure, Tanishpreet Singh in the 10th minute again netted the goal and raised the scorecard to 3-0 goals.
In the 26th minute of the first half, Jaspreet Singh from Singh Club scored the fourth goal of the match, which shattered the winning spirit of Diamond Club players.
The Diamond Club players tried their level best to equalize the game but failed and the first half ended with 4-0 goals.
In the second half, players of Diamond Club restricted the players of Singh Club to further raise the scoreboard. The players of Singh Club also proved their mettle and controlled the attacks of the opponent team and constrained the scoreboard to 4-0 goals.
The whistle by umpire in the end of the second half brought jolt for players of Diamond Club and proud moment for Singh Club, as the latter qualified for the next stage of the tournament by 4-0 goals.
The second match of the day was played between Guru Nanak Nagar Hockey Club and Ajit Hockey Club, Gole Gujral, in which latter registered win by 2-0 goals.
In the first half, players of Guru Nanak Nagar Hockey Club and Ajit Hockey Club, Gole Gujral played magnificent game and restricted each other to raise the scoreboard.
In the second half, Balmeet Singh from Ajit Hockey Club scored the first goal of the match during the 36th minute. In 49th minute, Balmeet Singh again bounced back, netted goal and raised the scoreboard to 2-0 goals.
The opponent Guru Nanak Nagar Hockey Club failed to equalize the score and paved way for Ajit Club to enter into the next stage of the tourney.
Earlier, the inaugural match of the tournament was played between Ajit Hockey Club Gole Gujral and Power House Poonch, in which former defeated latter by 2-1 goals.
The first half of the match ended with no goal as the players from Ajit Hockey Club, Gole Gujral and Power House Poonch restricted each other to raise the scoreboard.
In the second half, Talwinder Singh from Power House Poonch scored the goal in the 32nd minute, which Bhupinder Singh from Ajit Hockey Club equalized during the 36th minute.
As the players of both the teams were playing with 1-1 goals, Jagjeet Singh of Ajit Hockey Club netted the goal in the 52nd minute and raised the scorecard to 2-1 goals, which the opponent Power House Poonch team failed to equalize and lost the match.
For their outstanding performance, Tanishpreet Singh from Singh Hockey Club, Bandhu Rakh and Balmeet Singh from Ajit Club were awarded with as man of the match trophies.
The matches were officiated by Daljeet Singh, Jagjeet Singh, Joginder Singh, Gurmeet Singh and GS Bakshi, Tournament Director.
In tomorrow’s fixture, Banda Bahadur Hockey Club, Poonch will clash with Young Star Hockey Club, Simbal Camp and MM Higher Secondary School, Simbal Camp will take on Maharaja Ranjit Singh Hockey Club.
