Court issues injunction on rights of new Tamil movie
A city court has passed an interim injunction restraining producers of upcoming Tamil film Appavin Meesai from dealing in any of the movie rights, like distribution and release, without settling financial dues of a city based film lab. In the petition filed by the owner of Ravi Prasad Film Labs Pvt Ltd it is said that it had given 25 lakh to the producer of the movie, Dhamini Cineography for commencement, production and completion of the movie.
The producers agreed to repay the amount with 36% yearly interest. According to the terms of the agreement, the complete rights of the movie were to remain with Ravi Film Labs until re-payment of the loan. Despite receiving clearance from the censor board along with money from distributors, the producer did not repay the loan. As such the court could restrain the producer from releasing and distributing the film.
