Angelina Jolie Brings Daughter Shiloh With Her To Turkey On World Refugee Day

Angelina Jolie and her 9-year-old daughter, Shiloh Jolie-Pitt, traveled to Turkey in honor of World Refugee Day. The “Maleficent” actress and her daughter used their celebrity status to bring awareness about the "worst refugee crisis ever recorded” in Turkey.

Dressed in casual black T-shirt and black jeans, Jolie spoke Saturday on the plight of refugees as she visited the Midyat Refugee Camp in Mardin. The 40-year-old is a special envoy for the U.N. high commissioner for refugees.

"We are here for a simple reason: This region is at the epicenter of a global crisis,” said Jolie in a statement available on UNHCR website. She then went on to say that more than 60 million people have been rendered homeless or “one in every 122 people on our planet.”

“Our world has never been richer or healthier or more advanced. Yet never before have so many people been dispossessed and stripped of their basic human rights," added the actress.
