Childline 1098 officials rescue abandoned mother, her young sons

Officials of Childline 1098 Mangaluru on Monday rescued a mother and her two children who were leading lives of destitute on the platform of KSRTC bus station at Bejai bus station for the past four-days.

MANGALURU: Officials of Childline 1098 Mangaluru on Monday rescued a mother and her two children who were leading lives of destitute on the platform of KSRTC bus station at Bejai bus station for the past four-days. Renukamma, 30 of Ukkudakere in Hosapete of Ballari district was abandoned by her husband leaving her to fend for herself and her two sons aged seven and two respectively, Sampath Katii, Childline 1098 Mangaluru coordinator stated.

Renukamma subsequently sought shelter at her mother-in-law’s house. However, a few days back, the inmates of her mother-in-law’s house threw Renukamma and her two young children out of the house over a trivial domestic issue. Renukamma not knowing what her next move would be boarded a bus for this coastal city and landed at the KSRTC bus station. Left without money to return to Ballari, she was spotted in a helpless state at the bus station.
Taking note of their condition, officials of Childline took Renukamma and her children to Dharmajyothi Samaja Seva Institute and rehabilitated them. Supreetha, Sampath and Asuntha D’Souza of Childline 1098 coordinated the rescue and rehabilitation efforts. It may be recalled here that officials of Childline 1098 had similarly come to the rescue of another family in distress at Shaktinagar in the city where the children were forced to nurse their ailing parents.
