India reaches 4GW of solar power

Rajasthan overtakes Gujarat as the state with the largest installed solar capacity after several projects were commissioned under the National Solar Mission

India has reached installed solar power capacity of over 4 GW, according to the Ministry of New & Renewable Energy (MNRE).

Rajasthan has overtaken Gujarat as the state with the largest installed solar capacity after several projects were commissioned under the National Solar Mission.

Rajasthan now has an installed solar power capacity of 1.16 GW, accounting for 29 per cent of the total solar power capacity installed across India.

India’s largest solar power project is based in state of Madhya Pradesh which is ranked second for installed capacity under state policy.

With 564 MW installed solar power capacity it accounts for 14 per cent of the country’s total.
