U.S. Ambassador to India Richard Verma was among the scores of diplomats, including international ones, who attended the mega yoga event on Sunday.
External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj had extended invites to 152 foreign missions in the country.
“How did I do?” said a smiling Mr. Verma at the end of the event, adding: “It was terrific and very relaxing.”
Afghan envoy Shaida Mohammad Abdali, whose yoga attire included a pair of sunglasses, went through the 35 asanas without any difficulty.
“It was an excellent event,” Mr. Abdali said.
Another enthusiastic participant, though not a yoga regular, was Faeq H.H. Hamza, counsellor from the Palestine Embassy.
An Israeli embassy spokesperson said around 20,000 people too did yoga in Tel Aviv on Sunday to mark the occasion.
Tatiana Kopylova of the Russian Embassy said the mission holds regular yoga sessions for the staff.
From Rwanda, Joseph Kabakeza, the first counsellor of the high commission, said he was a yoga enthusiast.
