Women deserve 50 per cent opportunities: Kanimozhi

Women deserve to enjoy 50 per cent of opportunities, said DMK leader and MP Kanimozhi.

Launching a ‘pattimandram’ organised by Tiruvannamalai south district unit of DMK in view of Karunanidhi’s 92nd birthday here on Saturday she said that society is not even providing 33 per cent reservation for women in parliament. Women work at home and workplace but their double labour was not properly recognised by the society, she said.

DMK was the party that enacted laws to give 33 per cent reservation to women in local body posts and to give equal rights to women in ancestral property. DMK assured to support any move to give 33 per cent reservation to women. Former minister E.V.Velu presided over the meeting. Earlier she adopted Meyyur village under MP Model Village scheme and distributed saplings to the villagers.
