Water released from Mathadivagu

June 22, 2015 12:00 am | Updated 05:44 am IST - ADILABAD:

The Mathadivagu medium irrigation project in Tamsi mandal of Adilabad district received huge inflows forcing lifting of three gates to release 12,000 cusecs of water. The gates were lifted 1.3 metres to maintain a parity between the outflow and inflow which was 12,000 cusecs too.

The catchment area of the project located in the hilly areas of Talamadugu mandal recorded one of the heaviest spells of rainfall on Saturday night and almost all through Sunday.

The streams originating from the Talamadugu hills were overflowing as a result.

The Talamaduguvagu near the mandal head quarter village flowed over the low level bridge for a few hours in the afternoon dislocating flow of traffic towards the district head quarter.

Other stream like the Chanda river were also in spate.
