It was a memorable Sunday for thousands of people, particularly youngsters and schoolchildren, who participated in mass yoga camps organised in different places across districts as part of the International Yoga Day.

In Kalaburagi, schoolchildren and youths made a beeline to the Chandrashekhar Patil Stadium to participate in the mass yoga camp organised by the district administration. Another impressive gathering was witnessed at the Sharanabasaveshwar College campus ground where the camp was organised by the Patanjali Yoga Kendra, BJP, RSS, and other Sangh Parivar organisations. BJP MLA Dattatreya Patil Revoor, in his brief address at the inaugural function, mentioned the absence Municipal Administration Minister Qamarul Islam during the inauguration and said that his presence would have inspired the younger generation.

In Vijayapura, though almost every school organised mass yoga programmes, the main event was held at Ambedkar District Stadium, where numerous students participated in the event. Bhagwant Khuba, MP, inaugurated the International Yoga Day celebrations by performing asanas at Nehru Stadium in Bidar on Sunday. He called on the public to make yoga a daily habit to remain healthy and content. Over 500 students, teachers and youth participated.

In Raichur, MLC N.S. Boseraju flagged off a yoga demonstration by around 300 yoga practitioners at the Mahatma Gandhi Stadium between 7 a.m. and 7.35 a.m. The event was organised by the district administration in association with various civil society organisations and institutions including Patanjali Yoga Samiti, Swamy Vivekananda Holistic Health Care Centre and the Art of Living. Minister for Textiles and Ports Baburao Chinchansur inaugurated the International Yoga Day programme jointly organised by the district administration and the AYUSH Department at the Pre-University College ground in Yadgir on Sunday. Children from Nammura Government Primary and High School at Kudalagi in Surpur taluk of the district performed Mallakamba, Haggata and other sports during the event.
