The Regional Agriculture Research Station (RARS) at Ambalavayal, under the Kerala Agriculture University (KAU), will host an international symposium on succulents and other ornamental plants in January 2016.
The International Society for Horticultural Science (ISHS), a leading independent organisation of horticultural scientists, had announced that the symposium would be held in RARS from January 24 to January 27, P. Rajendran, Vice Chancellor, KAU, said in a release here.
“It is for the first time that the ISHS is approving an international symposium on floriculture in India. KAU is proud to be involved in it and feels privileged to host it,” Dr. Rajendran said, adding that the farming community in Wayanad district would benefit from this event.
Rajendran Pangath, Associate Director, RARS, Ambalavayal, said that the Executive Director, ISHS, had promised to explore the possibility of supporting the symposium and an annual flower show, ‘Pooppoli 2016,’ organised by KAU.
ACTA-Horticulturae , a reputed journal on horticulture, would be published by the KAU on the symposium as a special edition, Dr. Rajendran added in the press release.
