HPCL, a Navratna company, is making huge investments in clean fuel projects to meet the Bharat Stage-III & BS-IV fuel specifications to reduce vehicular pollution.
Giving details on measures to prevent environmental pollution ahead of the public hearing being organised on Visakh Refinery’s expansion project on June 26, HPCL General Manager A.S.V. Ramanan said flue gas desulphurisation units had been added in the recent past to reduce sulphur dioxide and particulate matter contents in the fluidized catalytic cracking unit (FCCU).
Online Analysers had been provided on all refinery stacks for monitoring various pollutant concentrations in stack emissions. These apart, Continuous Ambient Air Quality Monitoring Stations had been provided in three locations in Visakh Refinery for monitoring the ground level concentrations of various pollutants. Mr. Ramanan said the company was focusing on generating renewable fuels.
