Anand takes on Nakamura

June 22, 2015 02:14 am | Updated 02:14 am IST - NEW DELHI:

On a high after taming Magnus Carlsen, Viswanathan Anand will be keen to improve his record against Hikaru Nakamura in their fifth round clash of the Norway Chess 2015 at Stavanger, Norway.

After Saturday’s rest day, Anand plays black against the second-placed Nakamura, who he last beat in Zurich in February. But it was Nakamura who won the title after coming out stronger against Anand in the tie-breaker.

So far, Anand has not looked in a spot of bother in any of his games.

Three draws followed by a victory in such a formidable field, shows Anand’s experience is playing its role.

Points position after four rounds: 1. Veselin Topalov (3.5 points), 2. Hikaru Nakamura (3), 3-4. Viswanathan Anand, Anish Giri (2.5 each), 5-7. Fabiano Caruana, Alexander Grischuk, Maxime Vachier-Lagrave (2 each), 8-9. Levon Aronian, Jon Ludvig Hammer (1 each), 10. Magnus Carlsen (0.5).
