AIPMT leak case: Delhi University student among two more held

Both the accused were produced before the Rohtak court and remanded in two days police custody for further interrogation.

It is being alleged that both accused acted as mediators between members of the Roop Singh Dangi gang and the owner of “Spy shop” from where the bluetooth fitted vests were purchased and subsequently used for transmitting the answer keys to the students on May 3.

The SIT, investigating AIPMT leak case, received secret information about two suspects staying in a flat in Lord Budha colony in Delhi.

The first accused, Dharmender, was nabbed in the early hours of Sunday. In a parallel raid, conducted by Rohtak police crime branch, Gautam was also nabbed from a house in Dwarka, New Delhi.

The preliminary interrogation of both the accused revealed that Gautam was also part of the “core-team” involved in solving the AIPMT question paper on the day of the examination on May 3.

Police investigation has further found that the maximum number of beneficiaries of the paper leak, at a particular examination centre, were 15 students who appeared in Siliguri.

Six subject experts (already arrested) had solved the AIPMT paper in barely 15 minutes and then the rest of the gang members had transmitted the answer keys to the students through bluetooth-fitted vests.

“Our various teams are on the job and raids are being conducted at a number of places. More arrests are likely”, one of the SIT members said.

So far, Haryana police have arrested 26 accused involved in the AIPMT leak case, while the gang’s kingpin Roop Singh Dangi continues to remain at large.

Based on Haryana police’s investigations, Supreme Court last week had cancelled the AIPMT exam and directed CBSE to hold it afresh and declare results before August 17.
