KOTTAYAM: MG University shut down the last of its off-campus centres on Saturday.
Prodded by governor P Sathasivam vice chancellor Babu Sebastian ordered closure of 54 off-campus centres functioning under the university. Last month all off-campus centres functioning outside the jurisdiction of the university were shut down.
The governor's directive came after a hearing held on May 30.

The state government had submitted an affidavit to the governor that none of the off-campus centres of the varsity had its approval.
At one point, the university had 133 off-campus centres - six outside the state and seven centres abroad, mostly in the Gulf countries. All the 13 off-campus centres outside the state were shut down last year after the intervention of University Grants Commission. Appeals against the university's decision by the managements of these centres were turned down by the Kerala high court.
