Senator Jonah David Jang has expressed deep shock over the killing of two women, Victoria Solomon and Pricilia Bitrus, in Heipang, Barkin Ladi local council of Plateau State by men of the Special Task Force (STF).

Condemning the killings in very strong terms, Jang noted that it is unfortunate that the security forces paid with tax payers’ money to protect citizens are the very ones killing them.

In a statement sent to The Guardian by his media aide, Mr. Chris Gyang, the senator appealed to the families of the victims and the entire community to continue to remain calm. He also called on the authorities concern to immediately open up investigations into the circumstances surrounding the killing with a view to bringing the perpetrators to book.

Benue State Governor, Samuel Ortom, has also condemned the attack on Tse-Ikpur community in Logo local council by suspected Fulani herdsmen.

Ortom described the attack as savage and unacceptable.

The governor, who directed security agencies to take urgent steps to stop further attacks on communities in the state, said his administration would not tolerate acts of violence against the people.

He, however, disclosed that measures are being put in place to curb the activities of criminals and called on the police to tract, arrest and prosecute those responsible for the attack.
