10 injured in clash

At least 10 persons were injured in a clash over prawn gheri between two villages on the coast of Chilika Lake under Krushnaparasad police station limits in Puri district of Odisha on Saturday.

Three critically injured villagers were brought to MKCG medical college and hospital in Berhampur. The injured included Bimbadhar Palai, Rajkishore Palai and Bhramara Tarai. The other injured have been admitted in the government hospital at Krishnaprasad. Armed police have rushed to the area.

According to the police sources, the inhabitants of Alanda and Patana villages clashed over rights of prawn gheries on the shore of Chilika Lake. Country-made guns, crude bombs, sharp weapons and lathis were used. These two villages are said to be at loggerheads since long over these prawn gheries.
