Fatal mishap: Three labourers electrocuted
JAIPUR: Negligence again proved fatal for labourers who were working at an under construction site in Sujangarh town of Churu district on Saturday. Three of them were electrocuted while three others received serious burn injuries when an iron ladder they were shifting came in contact with 11,000 KV electricity line in Churu district.
According to the police, the incident took place during early hours on Saturday when the labourers were shifting a 20-feet high ladder into an under-construction house, where they were laying the roof.

“The preliminary report suggested that while they were shifting the ladder it touched the 11,000 KV power line passing over the under construction building. Three of the labourers got electrocuted and died on the spot,” said a senior police officer of Sujangarh police station. Some people also said that one of the labourers lifted an iron rod coming out of the roof which came in contact with the 11,000 KV line causing the accident. “We are investigating the matter to find out the reason behind the accident,” the officer added. The other three went near the ladder to see if they could help their fellows and they too got electrocuted and sustained grave burn injuries.
“The victims were identified as Saddam (24), Mufis (23) and Khalid (25). The other injured were admitted to a local hospital where their condition was stated to be stable,” the officer added.
Soon after the incident, the other labourers sat on a dharna and staged protest demanding an ex-gratia for the deceased. Later, the authorities reached the spot and assured them an ex-gratia as per the government norms.
Police said that first Saddam came in contact with the current and when Mufis and Khalid went to save him they too were electrocuted.
