Re-totalling option in KPSC main exam scrapped

Cabinet goes for move to stem irregularities

June 21, 2015 12:00 am | Updated 10:50 am IST - BENGALURU:

Taking a leaf out of the Union Public Service Commission, the State Cabinet on Saturday decided to scrap the option for re-totalling of marks in the main examination and personality tests conducted by the Karnataka Public Service Commission (KPSC) for 464 posts of gazetted probationers called in 2014.

By amending the rules drafted in 1973, the Cabinet decided to grant powers to the KPSC to announce the final list of selected candidates for the posts directly.

Earlier, the KPSC announced marks secured by candidates in main and personality tests.

This gave scope for students to apply for re-totalling and then collude with commission members to increase the marks. Following irregularities in the 2011 KPSC list, the Cabinet has decided to implement the Kota Committee recommendations.

The KPSC has announced the list of candidates selected for the main examination. The preliminary test was held in April 2015. The eligible candidates for gazetted probationers’ main examination 2014 are required to submit their application’s online.
