Minister of State for Health and Medical Education, Asiya Naqash reviewed the functioning of premier health institutions in Srinagar city at a meeting of officers held here today.The Principal Government Medical College, Medical Superintendents of G. B. Pant Hospital, L.D. Hospital, SMHS, Srinagar and Jawahar Lal Nehru hospital Rainawari and other senior officers of the department attended the meeting.While taking stock of the medicare facilities available in the health institutions located in the Srinagar city, the Minister called upon the concerned to make optimum use of the resources available and provide best services to the patients. She said that PDP-BJP Government attaches top priority to the health sector and would make available best diagnostic facilities in the health institutions. She impressed upon the functionaries of these institutions to personally monitor the activities of the health institutions so that the patients are not put to suffer.
Maintaining that medical is the noble profession, the Minister said that doctors must put in their best efforts to treat the patients with courtesy and politeness. The doctors and para-medics have specific mandate to serve the sick and they must maintain the dignity of this profession by treating the ailing community with missionary zeal, which is always expected from them, said the Minister.The concerned head of the institutions briefed the Minister about the OPD/IPD patient rush and facilities being extended to them. They also briefed about the overall performance of the institutions.Earlier, the Minister visited JLNM Hospital and AYUSH Rainawari and inspected various wards and units of the hospitals. She interacted with the patients and their attendants and inquired about the facilities being provided to them in these hospitals. She directed the Medical Superintendent to ensure proper sanitation in and around the hospital.
