RAJKOT: Several villages of Amreli district were flooded after being pounded by 150mm rainfall in just two hours on Friday.
Sources said that in villages like Dalkhaniya, Sarsiya, Govindpar, Mithapur and Kangsa, the downpour resulted in flash floods in the rivers.
In Dhari town, large number of people gathered on the bridge over Shetrunji River to see the gushing waters and the river flowing bank to bank after the catchment areas received extremely heavy rainfall.

District flood control room officials say that Savarkundla received 35mm rainfall while moderate rains were reported in Porbandar and Junagadh districts. Maliya-Hatina of Junagadh received 37mm while Kutiyana in Porbandar received 22mm rainfall.
Dalkhaniya is just one km from Gir Sanctuary. All state highways from Dalkhaniya to Dhari, Kodinar and Veraval were closed due to heavy water-logging.
Late on Thursday night, two persons were killed by lightning in separate incidents reported in Khambhaliya taluka.
