MADURAI: A day after actor and South Indian Film Artistes Association (Nadigar Sangam) president Sarathkumar met Madurai Adheenam Arunagirinatha Guru Gnanasambanda Desikar, actor Vishal descended in the city along with his battalion of supporters including actors Nasser, Karthik Sivakumar, Pon Vannan and Karunas on Friday.
Actor Vishal and the others met theatre artistes and sought their support for their camp in the July 15 election.
However, actor Vishal and his supporters didn’t meet Madurai Adheenam.
Meanwhile, Madurai Adheenam expressed his readiness to act as a mediator between the camps but stressed that he would not do so voluntarily and should be invited.
“I am ready to act as a mediator to settle the issue between two groups – actors Sarathkumar and Vishal. But, I will not be going voluntarily. If they invite me, I shall talk to both the groups and definitely find a solution to the problem. It is my wish,” Madurai Adheenam said.
The two camps are warring over a proposal to construct a multiplex complex at the Nadigar Sangam’s site.
Vishal and co wants the agreement pertaining to construction of the multiplex be cancelled. Insisting on his demand, Vishal said he would contest in the election to the Nadigar Sangam against the Sarathkumar group.
Vishal and his supporters assured theatre artistes that they would construct a building for them in Madurai using their own fund.

“We did not ask anything from the present office-bearers of the Nadigar Sangam. We want the building to provide facilities to artistes. If they cancel the agreement pertaining to the construction of a commercial complex, we would abstain from contesting the election,” actor Vishal said.
It may be recalled that the Nagidgar Sangam’s president R Sarathkumar met Madurai Adheenam on Thursday for his blessings. When TOI contacted Madurai Adheenam said, “In Tamil Nadu, spirituality, cinema and politics are inter-related subjects. We cannot see them by splitting. So, I am in a position to talk about them,” he said.
There shall be no split among artistes and difference of opinion among them.
They should jointly work for the welfare of artistes, he said.
“The association’s president Sarathkumar and secretary Radha Ravi met me regarding the issue. The problem between the two groups will be settled amicably,” he said.
