Come what may , Sangeetha Ramakrishnan, an immigration specialist sees to it that she does n't miss her yoga sessions in the morning. “Dis cipline is an important lesson that yoga teaches you. Practising the asanas has made my life easy and smooth,“ she says. Sangeetha, 30, is among the increasing tribe of young Bengaluru women who are taking to yoga in a big way .A sample survey found that 53% of the respondents practise yoga.
Also, 81% of those doing asanas four or more times a week, are women. Ramamurthy R, 58, a teacher at Patanjali School of Yoga for 28 years, said: “Yes, an increasing number of women are getting into yoga. Many of them have experienced the benefits of an hour-long session a day .You stay relaxed and positive for the rest of the day.“
Overall, fitness appeared to be the primary factor. However, as with other fitness regimes, many respondents, especially men, said they don't find enough time for yoga. About 33% complained of a lack of proper centres in their vicinity .
Sangeetha, who practices at Shankar Yoga Kendra in Jayanagar, said, “Time will always be a constraint. The little time you devote to yoga will hugely benefit you for the rest of the day .“
