Mumbai schools shut, no university exams today

MUMBAI: Several schools and colleges stayed shut on Friday. R N Podar, Santacruz, St Mary's School, Mazgaon, St Xavier's, Fort, and Cathedral and John Connon School, Fort, for instance, announced a holiday.
"Our professor said we should not venture out in the rain," said Karan Ambardekar, student of L S Raheja College, Bandra. However, staying shut did not affect academics at some schools.
"We use a lot of online applications and shared videos with students," said Avnita Bir, principal, R N Podar School.
Mumbai University postponed all exams on Friday and Saturday. New dates are yet to be announced.
"Heavy rain is predicted for the next 24 hours so the education department has decided to keep all schools and colleges shut on June 20," said education minister Vinod Tawde on Friday.
